Sublimation press settings for the Lead Sleeve

Time, temperature and pressure for sublimating Lead Sleeves cleanly the first time, plus a quick troubleshooting checklist.

Most issues with sublimating a new blank come down to one of three things: temperature too low, pressure uneven, or paper shifting on the press. Here's the starting point we recommend for the Lead Sleeve, and the small adjustments that fix the common problems.

Also known as: dog leash sleeve, personalized dog leash, custom dog leash, leash cover, lead wrap. Lead Sleeve ships worldwide — UK, US, EU, Canada, Australia, Asia, LATAM.

Starting settings

  • Temperature: 195–205°C (385–400°F)
  • Time: 45–60 seconds
  • Pressure: Medium
  • Paper: Standard sublimation paper, mirrored print
  • Protection: Butcher paper above and below the sleeve

Always test one sleeve before committing a batch. Every press runs slightly differently — what matters is that you find a setting that gives vivid, repeatable colour with no ghosting.

Quick design checklist

  • Mirror your design before printing.
  • Bleed at least 5mm past the print area to allow for movement on the press.
  • Avoid pure black for fine detail — a deep navy or charcoal often sublimates more cleanly.
  • Keep critical text away from the very edges of the wrap.

Troubleshooting

  • Faded colour: Increase time by 5–10s, or temperature by 5°C. Check your paper isn't expired.
  • Ghosting (shadow image offset): Paper moved during the press. Tape it down and don't open the press until the timer is fully up.
  • Patchy print: Pressure is uneven. Use butcher paper to even out the surface, and re-check your platen calibration.
  • Yellowing on white areas: Press is too hot or holding too long — back off temperature or time.
