Care instructions for printed dog leash sleeves

How to wash, dry and store a printed dog leash sleeve so the colours stay vivid and the sleeve lasts for years.

A sublimated leash sleeve is built to take daily walks, weather and the occasional muddy adventure. A few small habits keep it looking new for years.

Also known as: dog leash sleeve, personalized dog leash, custom dog leash, leash cover, lead wrap. Lead Sleeve ships worldwide — UK, US, EU, Canada, Australia, Asia, LATAM.

Washing

  • Cool machine wash (30°C or below) with similar colours.
  • Mild, non-bleach detergent.
  • Inside out if alongside zips or hooks.
  • Avoid fabric conditioner — it can leave a film that dulls colour.

Drying

  • Air dry, flat or hung.
  • Do not tumble dry.
  • Don't dry in direct intense sunlight for prolonged periods.

Stains and mud

  • Brush off dried mud first, then cool wash.
  • For stubborn marks, soft brush with mild detergent before washing.
  • Avoid bleach, solvent cleaners, or peroxide-based stain removers.

Storage

  • Keep dry between uses.
  • For seasonal or memorial sleeves, store flat in a drawer.

Don't

  • Don't iron a printed sleeve directly. If you must, use a pressing cloth on the lowest setting.
  • Don't dry-clean.
  • Don't soak in hot water.

Why this matters

Sublimation prints are inside the fibre, so they don't crack or peel. The risk to longevity isn't the print — it's the fabric wearing down from heat or harsh chemicals. Treat the sleeve like a quality polyester garment and it will outlast the lead it's protecting.
